Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®)

Helping Families Stay Close

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is McDonald’s charity of choice. The first RMHC was formed in memory of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc who believed in giving back to the communities where we serve.

McDonald’s Singapore has been a constant supporter and contributor to the independently-run local RMHC chapter. Each year, approximately S$200,000 from Happy Meal® sales goes towards supporting the RMHC. We also make it easy for our customers to offer a helping hand via donation boxes instore and now, via the donation tab on the Self-Ordering Kiosks.

Together with our customers, we’re doing our part to help families.

Back in January 2013, with the support of the Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute, the first Ronald McDonald House was built at the National University Hospital (NUH), a comfortable place for families with sick children to rest, just steps away from their hospitalised child.

Since then, two other Ronald McDonald Family Rooms were built to provide a place of respite for even more families, allowing them to rest and recharge in between caring for their hospitalised children, at the following locations:

  1. Near NUH Paediatric Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency (PICU/HD) ward (Opened in Jan 2016)
  2. The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) (Opened in Jan 2018)

To this day, we stand by RMHC in their commitment to help families with sick children stay close to each other and the care and resources they need.

Ronald McDonald House

A comfortable place of respite for families, allowing them to be close to their hospitalised child, complete with meals, private bedrooms and bathrooms, and a playroom for kids. We believe that when a child is hospitalised, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.

Ronald McDonald Family Room

A place within the hospital for caretakers to rest and regroup, near their sick child’s room, with quiet space to recharge.
